Rectification & DC Power Systems
Rectifier enquiry checklist
The process, DC duty, supply and installation information to gather before enquiring about an industrial AC-to-DC rectifier.
Process and DC duty
- Process type and what the DC output feeds
- Maximum DC voltage and current, and the normal operating point
- Duty cycle, with typical on and off times
- Control mode: constant current, constant voltage or a programmed sequence
- Adjustment range and how closely the set point must be held
- Ripple or pulse requirement, if the process specifies one
Supply
- Incoming voltage, phases and frequency
- Available capacity at the point of connection
- Site limits on harmonics or power factor, if any
Installation
- Location of the rectifier and its distance from the process
- Route and length of the DC connection
- Ambient temperature and the presence of fumes, moisture or dust
- Cooling preference and, for oil-cooled arrangements, the space for the cabinet
Control and maintenance
- Local or remote control and indication
- Alarms the operators expect
- Isolation and maintenance access
If the process is new, give the chemistry or equipment supplier's requirements where available. The review states the assumptions it makes and the measurements that would confirm them.
The rectifier selection guide explains why each item matters. Send the information through the enquiry form.
